2019-2020 Scholarship Recipients

Eight members of the VSUAA- Greater Triangle Area Chapter (NC)  gathered at the  fountain on campus to award its 2019-2020 scholarships to the two recipients during Homecoming on October 29, 2019. The Virginia State University Alumni Association- Greater Triangle Chapter (NC) is pleased to announce its 2019-2020 scholarship recipients. The recipients were as follows: Ladasia Jones who received the Freshman scholarship and Cletisha Brinson who received the Upperclassmen scholarship. The VSUAA- Greater Triangle Area Chapter (NC)  awarded its scholarship to the two recipients during Homecoming on October 29, 2019 at the fountain on campus.

Ladasia Jones, majoring in Sports Management, is a native of Durham, NC. During her high school years, her awards/ recognitions included  A/B Honor Roll, Basketball-Defensive Player of Year(2017), All Conference (2019), Raleigh- Durham All Star Game(May 2019). Her community service activities include participating with Special Olympics hosted at Riverside High School(Coached and Referee the games), promoting and assisting with organizing Project 300(a back to school shoe drive for Durham youth). Her extracurricular activities  included playing AAU Basketball for- RNS and Carolina All Stars.Currently, Mis Jones is a member of the Virginia State University Women’s Basketball Team.

Cletisha Brinson, a senior, majoring in Biology, is a native of Rocky Mount, NC. Her awards/ recognition include The National Society of Leadership and Success, Golden Key International Honor Society, Virginia State University Honors program, Beta Kappa Chi National Honor Society, Tri Beta National Honor Society, VSU 2017 Academic Scholarship recipient, VSU 2018 Academic Scholarship recipient, and 2019 Dr. Bernard Parker Biology Scholarship recipient Her community service activities have included 2017 Campus clean up, 2018 Salvation Army Christmas drive, 2019 MLK day of service, and 2019 Goodwill summer clothes drive. Her extra-curricular activities have included NAACP member, Vanity Women’s Empowerment Organization- Charter member and Event Planner, and  the 2018 Thurgood Marshall College Fund Leadership Institute Conference. She has also in conducting research with the Dr. Vanessa Clark on the correlation between stress on art, psychology, and business majors and how it affects their cardiovascular health.

The Greater Triangle Area Chapter of the Virginia State University Alumni Association (VSUAA-GTAC) has a main goal to assist students from North Carolina who attend our beloved Alma Mater.  The scholarships were $500 for each recipient.
